July...

So .... July ....

Blue skies.

School broke up and the Summer holidays began.

A month of heat, hot sticky humid heat . Days were nice but nights not so much , nights of tossing and turning and waking up in desperate need of a cool refreshing shower.

Birthdays for both boys , boys turning 10 and 7 and growing so very quickly , scarily quickly in fact , no longer babies but still my babies.

Lots of beach walks , playing in the North Sea and finding beach treasures.

Cricket .... lots of matches and lots of training ... unfortunately not one match won.

Playing football down the park with summer haircuts.

Flowers, lots and lots of lovely flowers everywhere with lots of photo taking opportunities.

Doing the Big Butterfly Count and being sad at the lack of butterflies we actually saw but happy at the ones we did.

Overall not a bad month.

So here's looking forward to August , bring it on , we are ready for you.

Water Baby....

  

When we got to the beach the tide was right out and it was nice and warm .The fog hadn't quite burned off and was rolling across the sand. It looked quite spooky, it was quiet and peaceful , it was the perfect way to celebrate the water baby's 'birthday eve'.

Looking at this photo makes me understand why my mam loved this place so much and made me realise just how lucky we are to live so close to it.

Daisy, Daisy ......

 

This afternoon the boys had gone to visit their gran and Degz was playing some loud shooting game on the Playstation so I took myself off out for a walk.

I sat down on the damp grass between these beautiful daisies and collected my thoughts ....

Knobs and Knockers .....

 

A few days ago Gabriel asked if we could go on a long walk on Saturday , when I asked where he wanted to go he said Durham. Now we love Durham so I had no qualms about that whatsoever .

Every time we go I take photo's but this time I wanted to take something different from the usual river, cathedral etc so I decided to focus on doors . I most definitely was not spoilt for choice and these are just a few of the more colourful ones . It's not just the doors and the colours but their accessories too. Just check out the knobs and knockers and those lanterns too , aren't they just awesome.

The last one is our 'Hobbit Door' and I always take a picture of this one every time we go passed. A friend of mine does the same and we alternate in posting it on IG just for fun  ..... it's her turn next .

Flora and Fauna...

On Sunday I took the boys down the park . Whilst they played football I wandered around the ' sensory garden' looking for bugs. Lots of bees ( I must try and learn to identify them ) , quite a few ladybirds, mostly of the 14 spot black/yellow variety ( some trying hard to increase their numbers cough cough ) and a Soldier beetle.
Not a bad afternoons work if you ask me .....
